The outfits crafted for the events we attend are some of the most special articles of clothing I own and they will never be thrown out. There are so many memories and experiences seeped into the fibers of these outfits, it’s like when I pull them out I can smell EDC on them. The best part about them is they are so individual. You will never see 2 girls at a festival wearing the exact same thing. They may be similar, but there will always be something distinguishing the two of them. And that’s what is so important about this culture. We are all different. And here is a place we get to come and express those differences in a completely accepting and loving community. If you want to show up wearing a thong and pasties, you will be loved. If you want to show up wearing a life size Winne-The-Pooh costume, you will be loved. If you want to show up in a T shirt and jeans, you will be loved. If the entire world felt like this, my God we would be living in a much different atmosphere.
The amount of peace and love we can learn from festivals and our culture is something so powerful it could change the world. But first we have to change people’s viewpoints, and show them that these festivals are not just places where people come to do drugs and wear skimpy clothing. People do, do drugs. But out of anywhere in the world, a festival would be the safest place to do so. I’m not encouraging it at all I’m just saying the amount of medical staff around as well as the other festival-goers all looking out for each other is immense. Its really a family, an EDC family. All other 299,999 festival goers at EDC, I consider family.
